Bake something. It's Sunday anyway and this is my favorite day to doodle around in the kitchen, mix something differant up and then relax on the couch while the oven does its job.
my goal here was to create a sturdier-then-your-ususual-quick bread, the reason for this is that i have visions of cheddar grilled cheese on apple bacon bread dancing in my head. more on that later
Apple Bacon Bread
Makes One Loaf One Apple (Medium) 1/2 Cup Cream 6 Tablespoons Butter (3/4 of a stick) 2 medium Eggs (or 1 Large) 1 1/2 Cups unbleached Flour 3/4 Cups Brown Sugar 1/4 Cup Honey 1/2 Cup Bacon Bits | Blend the first four ingrediants in a blender until smooth dump the blended mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer and run the dough hook while adding remain ingreidants. grease a pan VERY well and then pour in mixture. this will make one large loaf pan bake at 350 degrees for one hour. test perioudically to ensure the bread does not dry out. (insert knife into center, when the knife comes out ALMOST completely clean, remove the bread from the oven and let sit.) Delious with a large pat of butter spread across the top. but, by no means nessisary. |
